WILD at heart: A Layout for Sketch - N - Scrap

I created this layout, "Wild at Heart" for the sketch challenge at Sketch N Scrap!  This is the first time I've entered a challenge on the blog, and I was excited to discover it!
Here is the original sketch from Sketch N Scrap, #45

I was thrilled to be able to use 4 photos on this sketch, as I am 3 years behind chronologically, in scrapping my youngest's memorable events!  LOL!

To create this layout, I used these products:
*My Mind's Eye
*Crate Paper button brads
* Me and My Big Idea red foil chipboard
*Simple Stories journaling scrap
* Sew Easy stitching
* embroidery floss, apple brads, buttons from my stash

Please leave  me a comment - I love to read them!

I used papers from several collections to complete this layout, and I love to use my stash!  I used Me and My Big Ideas, Close To My Heart brads and arrow pic anchors, and Bo Bunny.

Small Victory: A Layout for Sketch #23 My Scraps and More Sketches

And here is the original sketch from My Scraps and More Sketches #23

This sketch was a real challenge for me!  There were so many elements I wanted to use from the Simple Stories line, that it became not so simple!  LOL!
I also used lots of buttons from my stash, 2 types of ribbon from my stash, and red foil letters from Me and My Big Ideas that I have had for a while! The photos are actually inside pockets from the
SN@P product.

36.5: April Week #1 For Let's Get Sketchy

The April Week #1 Sketch at Let's Get Sketchy allowed me to use 3 photos of my huge collection!
Here is the original sketch:
As I've mentioned in other posts this year, I am committed to the goal of using the stash of supplies and product and I have, and only purchasing adhesives and prints of pics!  On this layout, I was able to pull out one of my favorite stacks from Me and My Big Ideas!  It had the exact shade of golden-yellow-orange my son was wearing!

Mama's Boy: A Layout for Bird is the Word "Sweet" Challenge

Here is my entry for the Bird Is The Word "Sweet" Challenge:

I just love these photos of me and my sweet Mama's Boy together on the steps to my craft studio.

I "popped up" scrap strips of paper from the collection, and trimmed individual font stickers in random lengths.
This paper collection by My Mind's Eye Sunny Day, is a sweet collection about summer fun, and frames the photos of me and sweet bug just perfectly!
Title is in Me and My Big Ideas foil font chipboard stickers
Tiny journaling is in October afternoon font stickers

Fly over to Bird is The Word and join a challenge!

Enjoy!

just like daddy

I love this layout!  I based it on the sketch at Fetch - A - Sketch, Challenge #33
and I loved the geometric elements, especially! I also took the opportunity to use 3 photos in these elements, and that always make me happy!  I cut the stars with my Cricut and the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge, and inked them with chalking ink and a brush!  The title is made with Me and My Big Ideas Alpha chips and then I brushed them with the same Quick Quotes Powderpuff Chalking ink in Baja Blue.

My Boy

I got really inspired one evening last week around midnight, and made my way to my studio!  I got out 1 Smooch Spritz ink in a frosted red color, and I made 2 more colors from CTMH ink refills in orange and sunkiss yellow.  I then placed stickers from Bo Bunny Press (very old), and Kelly Panacci (Pretty old, too) on my white cardstock as masks, and began to spritz the 3 inks all over the page.  I let my paper dry overnight, and peeled off the sticker-masks!  VOILA!  I then outlined the title with a coordinating marker from CTMH.  I distressed my photo, as usual, and framed it with strips of scrap paper from Me and My Big Ideas, Recollections, atd-Momenta, and CTMH.  I added a few brads and metal arrows, a sentence of journaling, and I was done!

I used these products:
Recollections:  blue cardstock, green gingham and yellow gingham patterned papers
Close to My Heart:  white cardstock, Orange reinker, Sinkiss Yellow reinker, Orange marker, star patterned paper
atd Momenta:  Happy Wheels patterned paper
American Crafts:  orange metal arrows and brads

Some Recent Layouts!

Whew! This past month has been a whirlwind! I have been able to find some crafting time, but am just now getting to photograph and post some of my layouts! I hope you will leave a comment and also enter my 750 Followers Giveaway!

I really love this layout of my little guy. The photo was an accident, a mistake! But, I loved the fact that the light was not on his face.

I really like this little bird paper, and have been wanting to use it since I purchased it in one of the Me and My Big Ideas stacks. I love all of the colors! I then fussy cut clouds from another piece in this same stack, and added those! I hope you like it! Please comment and leave me your blog address! I would love to visit!

luv u

For this layout, I used the February Sketch from My Scraps and More as my blueprint! It was right up my alley, becuase I love geometric shapes! I also based my layout on the Allsorts Challenge One or More Hearts, because I am absolutely in love with my youngest son! I was thrilled to use several items from my stash that are so old, that I have forgotten who manufactured them! ("luv" in the turquoise chipboard is that example! Those have to be at least 6 years old?) Also, the trio of ribbon slides in the top left corner are from my days as a Close To My Heart consultant, several years ago! I am entering this layout into these challenges: Allsorts Challenge: One or More Hearts Craft Us Crazy Challenge #20: Anything Goes My Scraps and More February Sketch I used products by these manufacturers on my layout: Prima, Offray, My Little Shoebox, Me and My Big Ideas, Close To My Heart, Bazzill

Christmas 2011

Merry Christmas 2011: This is my first Copic and Prismacolor marker project! I absolutely love Christmas, and traditional Christmas colors, so I just layered and layered those with my favorite shape, the square, until I was happy with my card. This DIGI image is by Mo Manning, and actually was chosen becuase this little boy, "Jimmy" looks so much like my own 3 year old! I usually add a lot more "bling" to my projecrs, but for this card, I really wanted you to be able to focus on the image of this sweet boy and his excitement about Christmas, so I took a more minimalist approach.
This being my first coloring project, literally, I was pretty pleased with how this sweet boy and his stocking turned out! I have just a few Copic Sketch markers, and so I mixed my coloring with Prismacolor markers that are available where I live. Both worked very well on the Copic Xpress paper, and I could tell a big difference in the ease of coloring with it and the basic cardstock that I tested colors on!
The angle of this photograph really emphasizes the embossed texture on the base of my card, and I think it adds a little something without being a distraction.
For this card, and the many duplicates I will make to mail to loved ones all over the USA, I dove into my STASH, and decided to CLEAR OUT the Clover Meadow cardstock from Close To My Heart that I have had for at least 3 or 4 years. I also used the last red rhinestone on a sheet that I have had for years, too...and yes I saved just one rhinestone... I was thrilled to be able to pull out a very old embossing plate out of my tools stash, and hand emboss the basket weave texture onto my base layer!
*Being a mother of ALL BOYS - I get to create papercrafted projects that reflect my primarily masculine household. (Me, and 2 of our pets are ladies! LOL!) Personally, I love ribbon, flowers, bling, etc... but, for this card, I wanted to truly reflect who we are as a family...we are mostly boys, very bright and colorful, very conservative & square, very complex with lots of layers, and completely in love with Christmas....and I feel that's what my card communicates.
TOP TIP TUESDAY: When working with any medium to dark colored solid cardstock, be sure to wash your hands with a non-moisturizing soap, and DO NOT apply hand lotion or cream! This will keep your cardstock fresh and clean without any oily fingerprints, and will prevent your photos and images from detiorating over time from oily fingers!

Anchors Away!

I was really happy to create this layout with 9 photos, and still have a little "white" space not covered! I used square punch to create the uniform photo size, and then distressed all photo edges with my hardware store sanding block! I love the sanded photo look, and I think it fits my subject well; my rough and tumble little boy! I would say this is one of my signature looks.
I used these products to create this nautical layout:
Cardstock (CTMH, Bazzill & Recollections), Patterned Paper (American Crafts), Nautical Stickers (Martha Stewart), Metallic Font Chipboard (Me and My Big Ideas), Twine (My Mind's Eye), Blue Pearls (Queen & Co.), Silver Charms (Michaels), Anchor Punch (Martha Stewart)
