Scrapbook Challenges FlashBack Friday #184

I'm finally back to scrapbooking and posting on the blog!   Woohoo!  It has been almost a FULL YEAR since I posted here on The Papercrafting League, and I am praising the Lord that He has brought me back!

I decided to jump right in with a sketch challenge at Scrapbook Challenges, and worked from Sketch #184 in the November-December Flashback Friday challenge!  Here is the updated sketch from SC, and below is my one page layout!
SBC_Sketch184

I always love a sketch that allows me to use 3 or more photos!

The journaling section included in the sketch forced me to come up with more details than just the date!   Thanks, Scrapbook Challenges!

I used American Crafts Junior collection papers, My Mind's Eye Lime Twist twine, Zots glue dots, Scenic Route Grafton Park chipboard, thickers vinyl alphabet stickers, and Queen & Co. washi tape.

Sketches in Thyme # 101 and 102

I present my layout for Sketches in Thyme #101:

Sketches in Thyme # 101

________________________________________________________________________________

And below, I present Sketches in Thyme #102:

The original sketch #102:

In these layouts, I showcased photos from a trip my son and I took to a friend's small home farm!  We both love animals, and he loved getting so up close and personal!

This year, 2013, my goal is to basically use what I already have in my scrapbook stash, and only purchase tape runners, glues and adhesives!  So, here is a list of the products and supplies I used:

  • Recollections chocolate cardstock
  • The Paper Studio KRAFT stack
  • Close To My Heart houndstooth print paper, wooden die cuts, and Waxy Flax
  • Fancy Pants Summer's End collection
  • My Mind's Eye burlap twine
  • American Crafts black flat thickers
  • K and Company woodgrain title chips
Enjoy!  **And please enter my 750 Followers Giveaway! It's up there on a tab!**

My Mind's Eye December Sketch Challenge

My Mind's Eye is my very favorite scrapbook collection company, as I just love their style!  Their papers really seem to fit my life!  So, Here is my take on the December Sketch Challenge!  I used only 1 non-MME product, and that is the chipboard font for the title, "So Adored."  All other pieces of my layout are from the Follow Your Heart Collection!

Here is the original sketch we were challenged to work with:

And here is my super fun take on the sketch!

I distressd, hand stitched with MME twine, and even used the collection name, "Follow Your Heart," in my layout!
These are photos of my sweet boy playing in the bathtub - still one of his favorite activities!

Winter: A Layout for Frosted Designs & Bird is The Word

I work with lots of sketches, one because I love them, and two because I have so many pics to scrap that I don't have time to spend coming up with the layout on my own!  I loved all of the elements of this sketch, and was able to incorporate lots of techniques.

I also entered this layout in the Bird is the Word challenge for October 22, 2012: Spring/Summer/Winter/Fall

Here is their site badge if you want to pop over:

I used "Winter" for my title, and found a great quote about snowflakes!
For this layout, I used these products and tools:

Marvy Uchida snowflake punches

Basic Grey tiny brads

embroidery floss

We: A Layout for Let's Get Sketchy

I love this photo of my sweet husband and our youngest son holding hands and walking away from me.  I created this layout based on the October Week 4 Sketch (Sketch #34) at Let's Get Skletchy! I love all of the opportunities to use geometric shapes, and focus on 1 special photo!  I distressed heavily around the edges of the first 2 layers of paper, and added some whimsy with flax stitching!

I used these products & tools:
Bo Bunny paper
Bazzill cardstock
The Paper Studio chipboard font letters
Martha Stewart punch
Sew Easy Tool
October Afternoon font stickers
We R Memory Keepers XActo knife

Hawk: A Layout for Sketches in Thyme

I created this layout for the Sketches in Thyme Sketch #90 Challenge!  I loved the simplicity of this sketch, but I was still able to use 2 of the same photo of this beautiful thin-shinned hawk, a threatened species on the island of Culebra, Puerto Rico!

I used all papers from the Simple Stories Year O Graphy collection, as I am doing our whole Puerto Rican vacation in this line.  The brads are from CTMH, title by American Crafts thickers,  tiny font from Adorn It,  and I used a Martha Stewart punch.

Animal Encounters: A Layout for Scrapping Everyday Miracles

I created this layout of 3 animals based on the beautiful Pagemaps sjetch provided by Scrapping Everyday Miracles!  I used lots of green to complement the iguana and the foliage, and orange to accent the land crab!  I always love a sketch with several photos - you know me - I take too many! Below is the link to the challenge!

For this layout I used Bazzill and CTMH cardstocks, Simple Stories Year O Graphy collection, October Afternoon font stickers and American Craft thickers.  I also recyled the natural ribbon twill strip from some bedding I purchased!  It came wrapped around the quilt with a tag attached, and it was silly to throw it away!  The green burlap netting was purchased at a convention, and I do not know the manufacturer!  Brads are from CTMH!

Moments: A Layout for Sketches in Thyme

Moments:  Yes they are truly what we remember!   I created this layout based on Sketch #89 from Sketches in Thyme!  I was fond of this layout because I was able to use 3 photos!  You guys know I take way too many of my Ezra, so a multiphoto sketch is my fave! I also liked the contrast of circular and rectangular elements!

I used October Afternoon font stickers, American Crafts thickers in vinyl, CTMH brads, Recollections circle die cut, Quick Quotes PowderPuff chalking ink, and everything else is Simple Stories!

"boy" layout for 4 Crafty Chicks & Quick Quotes

I created this layout using the Quick Quotes Friday Challenge 20 Sketch for inspiration!
I included a quote about boys by Robert Powell on the 3 tags in the top right corner.  I also used the Powder Puff Chalking Ink Mocha Mama around the whole edge of my gold cardstock, and brushed the ink all over the surface of the chipboard tags!

I used 3 identical chipboard tags, that I trimmed into banners and brushed with Quick Quotes Powder Puff Chalking Inks Mocha Mama. I was thrilled to participate in this challenge because I pulled out my little box of blank tags, and used these 3 that I have had for maybe 7 years?  Yay for using my stash!

To create this layout I used these supplies and tools:
  •  Bazzill Cardstock
  • Simple Stories Year-O-Graphy collection
  • Jenni Bowlin calendar tags
  • The Paper Studio chipboard alphas
  • Jillibean Soup green burlap twine
  • October Afternoon font stickers
  • Quick Quotes Powderpuff Chalking ink
  • American Crafts metal photo brads
  • Prima distressing tool
  • Spellbinders square scalloped die
  • Sizzix Big Shot
  • green ribbon and tags from my stash

New Pals

Oh how we love animals!  We saw this sweet horse tethered on the side of the road just grazing calmly, and we stopped to say hello while on vacation!
I based my layout on a super-creative sketch at Let's Get Sketchy Challenge # 29.
I am always happy to incorporate more than 1 photo, because I have so many to scrap!
Check out their challenge site!

I used products from Simple Stories, Collage Press, American Crafts, CTMH, and Recollections, and Bazzill!

Pool Boy: A Layout for Scrapping Everyday Miracles

I love to mix patterns, and variations on the same pattern!  For example, on my layout I have 2 sizes of polka dot paper in similar shades with white.  I also used red and white diagonal striped paper with hints of tone-on-tone green and blue diagnoal striped sail boat embellishments.  I also added some squares of grid/graph pattern to compliment my base grid patterned paper.

This photo shows my title, made from individual letter stickers.  I often overlap my font stickers to give them the appearance they would have in a word processed setting, especially if I am running low on room!  I chose this bright lime green as a contrast to the red, and a s a pop of color!

This detail photo shows my very favorite technique to use to add dimension and character to my layouts - edge distressing with a coarse grit sanding block!

And finally, this angled shot of my photo framing shows the multi-layered dimensional effect I created with foam pop up dots, and the leftover "negative" pieces of paper from diecutting squares with my Sizzix Big Shot!  I love to use scraps!

JOY

Here is another photo from Fall 2010, this one in the rocking chair on the front porch. I was able to use several OLD embellishments on this layout, which always makes me happy! The title, "JOY," is spelled out in glossy brown chipboard that is at least 6 years old, AND the 2 large brown and cream gingham enamel brads are likely 4-5 years old! I was so excited that I could use them, and still be pleased with my layout! I hope you like it, too!
I used the Mini sketch from Let's Get Sketchy for my layout, and also made sure to use those several OLD embellies at the urging of the Whimsical Wednesday Challenge for February 1 - Bringing Out The Old!
For this layout, I used these products:
We R Memory Keepers Autumn Splendor, Pink Paislee, Close To My Heart, StoryTeller's Club, and Bazzill.
