just like daddy

I love this layout!  I based it on the sketch at Fetch - A - Sketch, Challenge #33
and I loved the geometric elements, especially! I also took the opportunity to use 3 photos in these elements, and that always make me happy!  I cut the stars with my Cricut and the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge, and inked them with chalking ink and a brush!  The title is made with Me and My Big Ideas Alpha chips and then I brushed them with the same Quick Quotes Powderpuff Chalking ink in Baja Blue.

What I Love At The Sea

I created this layout for these creative blog challenges:

I used LOTS of old plain flowers, and layered them, securing them with staples!  I was happy to use up some of these flowers from my stash!

**I used metal colored staples, and metal paperclips.**
I frequently forget about using my stapler, although I love the result every time I do!  I also have had these paperclips for years,. and am so excited about using them!!!

What a unique challenge!  I used a tiny square punch and lots of my favorite scraps of paper and created my mini patchwork!  I will certainly use this technique again!

I used these supplies, tools and products in my layout:

Simple Stories Year-O-Graphy paper collection
Fiskars tiny square punch
Prima flowers
Recollections flowers
Close To My Heart paperclips
Jenny Bowlin font stickers
American Crafts thickers
 Making Memories staples
Jenny Bowlin font stickers
Bazzill cardstock

This layout, and this photo, reflects one of my major personality traits - curiosity - especially about nature and even moreso about animals! One of my favorite activities when we go to any body of water is to search for animal life! And this layout reflects some of my favorite elements to use when I scrap - FLOWERS, pink, polka dots, layers and distressing!  What do you like about nature?

into the light details

I love to distress photos, and I use a hardware store style sanding block for all the edges. I then took the corner of the blovk, and used it to scratch-distress the surface of the photo, all around the image of my son. I love how this brings focus onto him, and emphasizes the rough and tumble personality he sometimes exhibits. I have discovered my love for these tiny alphabet font stickers! I am anot abig fan of my own handwriting sometimes, and these are a perfect solution! These are from Carolee's Adorn It, and I have used Pink Paislee, and other manufacturers with just as much success!
This close-up shows my fussy-cut clouds, and the new polka-dotted American Crafts thickers, which coordinated well with my background patterned paper with a faded black and white focus!

Anchors Away!

I was really happy to create this layout with 9 photos, and still have a little "white" space not covered! I used square punch to create the uniform photo size, and then distressed all photo edges with my hardware store sanding block! I love the sanded photo look, and I think it fits my subject well; my rough and tumble little boy! I would say this is one of my signature looks.
I used these products to create this nautical layout:
Cardstock (CTMH, Bazzill & Recollections), Patterned Paper (American Crafts), Nautical Stickers (Martha Stewart), Metallic Font Chipboard (Me and My Big Ideas), Twine (My Mind's Eye), Blue Pearls (Queen & Co.), Silver Charms (Michaels), Anchor Punch (Martha Stewart)

all you

I had a lot of fun making this layout about my youngest son, Ezra and I on an outing to our local theme park. It also sparked some sadness as I chose my title inspired by the song, "Yellow," by Coldplay. This was one of my oldest son's favorite songs in 2000, and he later passed away in 2001 at the age of 14. Hearing this song again, and thinking about how much he would have enjoyed his youngest brother was heartbreaking. This photo is a closeup of my very old blue chipboard title that I distrressed and attached together!
Here is a closeup of my ticket-title! I cut several sizes of tickets on my Cricut, and layered them until I was happy with the look!
This is a closeup of the multitude of hearts, buttons, and glitter dots on the side of the layout. I just love these 3 bright colors!

I created this layout using these materials: Bazzill cardstock, Phoenix swiss dot & CTMH cardstock, Ocean American Crafts Cardstock: Junior Defense embossed dot

Patterned Paper, Lime Twist, Go Fly A Kite, My Mind's Eye

Cricut Cartrides, Carousel and Plantin Schoolbook

Fiskars Puffy Stickers font Blue Alphas

Chipboard font from my stash

Recollections Glitter Adhesive Dots

Buttons from my stash

Offray Microspool felt ric rac

Martha Stewart border punch and liquid glue

In the song, the artist sings about bleeding himslef dry for his subject, and as a parent, I know exactly how he feels. I would do anything for my children, and I appreciate the chance to express that through this song challenge!)
