Scrapbook Challenges Sketch 461

This week I worked with Sketch 461 from Scrapbook Challenges, and I have to say that I love it!  Because I have so many photos to scrap from my 3 boys and 1 daughter-in-law, I have had to make a promise to myself to use no less than 3 photos each page!  This sketch with 4 photos and everything placed so symmetrically was right up my alley!

Let's Get Sketchy November Wk 5 Scrap Lift Challenge

The current challenge at Let's Get Sketchy celebrates that November has 5 weeks this year, and celebrates the previous work of their talented team members!

The challenge instructs  us to choose from the featured layouts and scraplift it with our own new layout!  Here is the layout that caught my eye:

And here is my layout based on Sayaka's beautiful work!

I really liked that she included 3 photos that made a nice square focal point, and so I decided to use 4 square photos!
I mimicked her soft, layered background papers, and adhered my embellishments in similar locations!

Check out the Let's Get Sketchy blog for great inspiration and challenges!

A Family Vacation: A Layout for Frosted Designs

I created this layout specifically for the "All in The Family," challenge at Frosted Designs!

I enjoyed this challenge, and decided to write my own quote about family.  I truly feel my family is a gift from God.  In this layout, I featured photos from a family vacation with my husband, son and mom!

To create this layout, I used these products:
*My Mind's Eye
*Crate Paper button brads
* Me and My Big Idea red foil chipboard
*Simple Stories journaling scrap
* Sew Easy stitching
* embroidery floss, apple brads, buttons from my stash

Scrapping Everyday Miracles August Main Challenge

Scrapping Everyday Miracles August Main Challenge...."I Can Do All Things Through Christ".
For I can do all things through Christ, who gives me strength. Phillipians 4:13

By Cara:
God created us to do great things and gives us the strength, courage and perseverance to do them!  He also delights in us and with us when we do---isn't that cool? So this month I want to you to create a project about an accomplishment...it can be your own or a loved ones.

The LORD your God is with you,
He is mighty to save.
He will take great delight in you,
He will quiet you with his love,
He will rejoice over you with singing.
Zephaniah 3:17

I chose to create a layout about my daughter Ellie's Kindergarten graduation (back in spring 2012). She is in the Dual-Language program and many times felt overwhelmed not understanding very much of the Spanish language, but she has stuck with it despite her fears, and is on her way to becoming a fluent Spanish speaker (she will be going into the 2nd grade in the program this Fall). I know God is so very proud of her...just like I am!

So, you can choose anything that you consider an accomplishment---completing a degree, finishing a race, beating an illness, weight loss, etc. Can't wait to see what God is doing in your lives.

Oh, and don't forget the Scrap Twist...use metal or something metallic on your project!

Here is my layout for the August Main Challenge and my twist metal elements are the brads, and the metal pin holding the flowers and star above the tag!

Head on over to Scrapping Everyday Miracles and enter those layouts!

Authentic Boy: A Layout for Scrapping Everyday Miracles

March Sketch Challenge: And the twist - buttons!

I had a blast with this sketch - so many elements and so many photos!  I really need to use sketches like this with 4 photos because I take so many shots of my family, that even when I scrap a few of each event, I still have too many!  LOL!

Candy Coated!

It is pretty rare that I just give my youngest child candy without him earning it, or it being a special holiday, but he received this blue-raspberry Blow Pop from my mom, his La La.  The condition to be be able to eat it, was that he had to eat it in the bathtub! I loved layering these patterned papers in shades of aqua and turquoise by My Mind's Eye, and using American Crafts thickers, as well as a Marvy Uchida heart punch!

"boy" layout for 4 Crafty Chicks & Quick Quotes

I created this layout using the Quick Quotes Friday Challenge 20 Sketch for inspiration!
I included a quote about boys by Robert Powell on the 3 tags in the top right corner.  I also used the Powder Puff Chalking Ink Mocha Mama around the whole edge of my gold cardstock, and brushed the ink all over the surface of the chipboard tags!

I used 3 identical chipboard tags, that I trimmed into banners and brushed with Quick Quotes Powder Puff Chalking Inks Mocha Mama. I was thrilled to participate in this challenge because I pulled out my little box of blank tags, and used these 3 that I have had for maybe 7 years?  Yay for using my stash!

To create this layout I used these supplies and tools:
  •  Bazzill Cardstock
  • Simple Stories Year-O-Graphy collection
  • Jenni Bowlin calendar tags
  • The Paper Studio chipboard alphas
  • Jillibean Soup green burlap twine
  • October Afternoon font stickers
  • Quick Quotes Powderpuff Chalking ink
  • American Crafts metal photo brads
  • Prima distressing tool
  • Spellbinders square scalloped die
  • Sizzix Big Shot
  • green ribbon and tags from my stash

GROW: A Layout

This 2-page layout is inspired by the National Scrapbook Day festivities at Scrapbook & Cards Today sketch posted on their blog!  I modified the original 8.5 x 11 in. sketch into a double 12 x 12 in layout.  I love how it turned out, and this sketch allowed me to use a coloring book page from my son, 4 photos, and lots of the info from the journal I have been keeping about him since his birth!
I used Fancy Pants Rough and Tough, My Mind's Eye Line Twist, Bobbin Measuring Tape ribbon, Doodlebug Designs stickers, American Crafts thickers, along with various buttons, and font stickers.
